Description

A fine hunting socket bayonet dating: first quarter of the 19th Century provenance: Italia meridionale, Straight, single-and false-edged blade with deep, engraved central groove. The back, below the false edge, carved and engraved with a brass-lined black eye. The tang carved and engraved with a fish and decorated with a gilt brass plate depicting a cornucopia. Brass shoulder and socket worked in one piece, the socket is faceted and engraved with floral motifs (a crack near the opening).
