Description
A Brown Bess flintlock gun with bayonet
dating: circa 1800 provenance: Inghilterra, Smoothbore, round, 18 mm cal. barrel, the base with round frame and marks of the test bench (GR under crown), foresight (which also serves as clutch for the bayonet); tang marked "9" under crown. Flintlock marked "GR" under crown, "TOWER" and with broad arrow. Cock borders with double lines. Wooden, full stock (crack in front of the trigger guard), butt marked "6 BATT.N / N.S.M / A 2I". Smooth, brass mounts. Iron ramrod and bayonet (length 56 cm).
