A rare and interesting hand-and-a-half sword of a nobleman

dating: mid-16th Century provenance: Italia settentrionale, Long, straight, estoc blade, the forte with fuller featuring the inscription 'CIVITAS SOLIREGI' on one side and 'SOLI DEO GLORIA' on the other side, the central part of hexagonal section, the tip reinforced with a rib. Long, trapezoidal ricasso engraved with floral motifs. Iron quillon with faceted quillons curved towards the blade and decorated with silver bands, provided with pear-shaped silver head; silver-plated, triangular quillon block. Silver pommel with smooth and narrow neck, decorated with foliage at the upper side and at the base. Wooden handle with remains of leather covering, smooth silver-inlaid ring-nuts with undulated edge. The sides with flat stave.
