A composite rapier dating: 16th-18th Century provenance: Italia, Straight blade of lozenge section, with flat tang (18th century blade, of French origin). Fine Italian sword hilt made of iron. Lower ring-guard with palm butt plate, S-shaped quillons with ends featuring oval knots. Pommel with longitudinal grooves. Wooden handle covered with fine wire binding and iron wire Moor's heads.
