An infantry sword

dating: 17th Century provenance: Italia settentrionale, Straight, double-edged blade of hexagonal section, becoming ribbed towards the weak, the base with deep central groove, then decorated with small fullers. Iron hilt with quillons curved towards the blade and featuring curled ends. The front sode with knuckle guard decorated with rays and a provided with spike curved towards the ovoid pommel. Wooden handle covered with wire binding a metal wire Moor's heads. Fine dark patina.

Provenance: Property from a European Private Collection.
