Description
An exceptional embossed parade shield
dating: about 1620 provenance: Italia settentrionale, Made of iron, round and convex, with a raised and twisted edge, majestically embossed and engraved with a battle scene depicting horseback warriors at the foot of a hill with a fortress, sun and clouds on the background; a beautiful execution of arms and armor. The lowered edge is fully decorated with garlands and floral motifs. A row of rivets inside, with remains of the leather scabbard; leather handles fixed with brass rosettes at the center.
