A fine pesh-kabz of the Safivide epoch

dating: circa 1700 provenance: Persia, Curved, single-and false-edged blade made of very fine dark damask, with rib at the center, reinforced tip, the base with finely engraved cartouches depicting floral motifs on a black background and with a gold frame, T-shaped rear side carved and decorated in gold. Iron handle richly decorated with yellow-gold-inlaid floral motifs (small missing parts). Walrus tusk grips featuring pommel shaped as a bird's beak (small missing parts). Wooden scabbard covered with burgundy velvet (later).
