A kandshar
dating: First half of the 19th Century provenance: Persia, Curved, double-edged blade with dark damask rib at the center (small areas with pitting), the base with gold decoration (or mark?). Walrus tusk handle (a restored break and small missing parts) deeply sculpted on one side with an important character holding a shield and a mace and sitting on a chair, and another character sitting under a palm tree on the other side; the ends with geometric decoration. Leather-covered wooden scabbard.
