A silver-mounted shamshir

dating: Mid 19th Century provenance: Turchia, Curved, flat, single-edged blade made of damask. Silver hilt with cross-shaped helmet and horn grip scales (defects and small missing parts). Wooden scabbard covered with leather stitched in wire. Silver mounts engraved with floral motifs. Two suspension rings. Mounts in yellow patina, need cleaning.

TURKEY, mid-19th century Ottoman SABRE known as a Shamshir, two-plate horn handle, brass mounting, two straight quillons guard richly decorated in relief with acanthus and stylized plants stylized plants, flat-backed curved blade decorated on each side with fillets and a flower in relief, chagrin-covered scabbard with metal stitching, four metal fittings and two suspension rings. Restoration (welding) at the bottom of the blade. Provenance: descendants of General Changarnier (1793-1877).

Good condition; old scabbard restoration. Provenance: descendants of General Changarnier (1793-1877).
