dating: Mid 19th Century provenance: Italia, Oil on canvas. Beautiful depiction of an officer of the 'Nizza Cavalry' regiment in uniform. Particularly interesting for the presence of the helmet, not commonly found in many other paintings. Small defects and missing parts. Housed in a fine, contemporary frame decorated with floral motifs at the corners. A truly intriguing work of art for a collector of Italian helmets, deserving of proper restoration.
