A Colt Model 1849 Pocket Revolver with case
dating: Third quarter of the 19th Century provenance: USA, Octagonal, 6", 31 cal. barrel with cylindrical brass foresight, mark between braces "ADDRESS SAM.L COLT / NEW-YORK CITY". Visible rifling, bore with pitting. Smooth, five-shot cylinder, marked "COLTS PATENT / N°34xxx" and with engraving traces of the highway robbery. Working mechanism. Frame also marked "COLTS PATENT". Silver-plated brass gripstraps. Walnut grip. Matching serial number "466xx" on the cartridge rammer (abbreviated), on the barrel, on the trigger guard and on the gripstraps, different on the cylinder. Kept in a wooden case lined on the inside with burgundy velvet with a flask, a bullet mold and a small drum box, key for the lock. Minor general defects.
