A rare and interesting Colt First Model Dragoon Revolver

dating: 1849 provenance: USA, Cylindrical, 7-1/2", 44 cal. barrel (signs of use and time inside, visible rifling) with octagonal base, low silver foresight, marked "ADDRESS SAM.L COLT NEW YORK CITY" in curly brackets, the inscription is oriented towards the nozzle. Cartridge rammer marked "344". The barrel wedge without numbers. Smooth, six-shot cylinder with oval notches, with remains of engraving depicting a fighting between Texas Rangers and Indians (still quite legible) and cartouches with the inscriptions "MODEL U.S.M.R" and "COLT'S PATENT"; remains of serial number, probably "55xx". Working mechanism. Frame marked "COLTS PATENT" and "U.S." with serial number "55xx" matching the cylinder; the central pin of the cylinder with partial serial number matching the frame, also with "N" or "Z" stamps (not clearly legible). Brass lower band and squared trigger guard with four-digit serial number matching the frame, also with marks "K" and "G". Brass back band with matching serial number under the grip. Slight traces of German silver plating on the brass. The barrel with serial number matching the frame. Various areas of pitting. Smooth walnut grip without stamps.
