Blended Scotch Whisky, The Whisky Trail, Jazz series including 1 A Mortlach single cask whisky, bottled by Elixir Distillers for the Whiskey Trail Jazz series. The single malt was distilled in 1993 and aged in hogshead #85 for 26 years. It was bottled in 2019 at 56.2% ABV. The Mortlach distillery was founded by James Findlater in 1823 when the Excise Act was passed, making whisky distillation legal in Scotland. Mortlach was the first legal distillery in Dufftown and owes its name to the ancient parish in which the town is situated. The distillery changed ownership several times during its history. At one point, it even became a brewery, following James and John Grant's move of all the distilling equipment to their new Glen Grant distillery. They sold Mortlach immediately afterwards, but fortunately the next owner replaced the stills and Mortlach once again became a whisky distillery. Only 190 bottles of Mortlach 26 Year Old 1993 The Whisky Trail Jazz Series Vol. 1 were released. A limited-edition single-grain whisky from the Invergordon distillery, bottled by Elixir Distillers for the Whiskey Trail Jazz Series. The whisky was distilled in 1974 and aged in hogshead #38 for 44 years. It was bottled in 2019 at 47.6% ABV. Invergordon was founded in 1960. It is Scotland's most northerly grain whisky distillery, located hundreds of miles north of the grain distilleries of the Scottish Lowlands. The distillery has been owned by Whyte & Mackay since 1993. Invergordon has the capacity to produce a staggering 40,000,000 liters of whisky a year, but as most of it is used in blends, single-grain bottlings are rare.
