Netsuke of a monkey on a cushion (zabuton). Ivory. 18th century. Reclining and about to rise, the body turned to the right, the gaze directed downwards. The fine fur engravings largely worn. Good yellowish patina and age cracks. Old collection number, probably from a museum, 1185/842 in black ink. H 2.5 cm; W 4.3 cm Provenance Private collection, Cologne This object was made using materials for which a CITES permit is required for export to countries outside the EU. We would like to point out that a permit is not usually issued.
