Unusual and large netsuke of the yawning okame with baby. Wood. 19th century. Crouching in a typical pose, her robe slipped off her shoulder, her arms stretched upwards and yawning heartily, a baby lying on her thigh, pulling her breast towards her and sucking. There are similar netsuke with the signature of Masakazu from Nagoya, so that the present work could be attributed to this carver. H 7.7 cm Provenance Private collection, Southern Europe
