Signed: Koma Koryu saku and kao in red lacquer 6-piece painting on a black lacquer ground with graduated, very fine nashiji in iroe-togidashi, a walker in silhouette under a full moon on a bank fixed with pegs, a woman with a cricket cage, a child with a red lantern on a long pole, three bats in the sky and clouds passing by the moon. Inside nashiji and fundame. Inro-shaped metal ojime with gold and silver decorations. Janus head made of gray slurry terracotta. Koma-Builsa, Komaland, Ghana, 8th - 19th century With tapered forehead, open mouth showing the tongue and almond-shaped eyes. Including: Figure of a dignitary, h 15cm, made of gray washed terracotta, Koma-Builsa, Komaland, Ghana, 8th - 19th century, without head, but with a large chain around the neck. Janus head with TL analysis, 1987! 2 pieces! Koma-Builsa, a site with terracotta and bronze finds, is located in the area of the ethnic group of the same name in northern Ghana. The results of a thermoluminescence study indicate that the objects date from the 8th to 19th century and are therefore attributed to the ancestors of today's Koma-Builsa, a subgroup of the Mole-Dagbani speaking people in northern Ghana. According to James Anquandah, who carried out excavations in Komaland, the Iron Age bearers of the Koma-Builsa culture buried their dead in graves topped by earthen superstructures, each surrounded by a stone circle.
