Big chawan. Kuro-Oribe. Mino area, Owari province. Early Edo period, 17th century. Of the kutsugata type. Irregular shape with horizontal grooves, on a low, wide foot ring. Shiny metallic black glaze, leaving the base and foot almost completely free, with a recessed area of whitish, heavily crackled glaze with a diagonal line pattern in iron brown. Wooden box, inscribed in silver lacquer on the lid: Oribe kuro, paper glued to one side of the box, inscribed: Kuro-Oribe chawan. Cotton cloth. [JAPAN] Fujimi jusanshu yochi zenzu - Complete map of the 13 Fujimi states. Tokyo, Edo period, Tenpo 13, 1842. Large scenic map covering eight provinces in the Kanto region, including a detailed representation of Mount Fuji and the five provinces of Izu, Suruga, Totomi, Kai, and Shinano. The map accurately describes towns, villages, roads, rivers, and other geographical features in great detail. In contrast to the distant representations typical of the period, Mount Fuji is depicted with a level of detail and realism surprising for a map published in the late Edo period, somewhat anticipating more modern techniques of representation. Folded map, (1530 x 1740mm). Coloured engraving (some minor worming, mainly to margins, and some folding, light wear). Publisher's decorated paper wrappers. (1)

Set of bridge fibula and two clasps; Visigothic culture, VI-VII century. Bronze. Measurements: 4 x 2 x 0.5 cm (smaller); 10 x 3 x 0.5 cm (larger). The Visigoths dominated the metal and the work of the same one, thus becoming great craftsmen. When the Visigoths left Italy with Ataulf, they headed towards the center and south of Gaul, passing from there to the Iberian Peninsula. Then, the Visigothic Kingdom of Toulouse (Toulouse, France), managed to conquer more territory in the peninsula, until Alaric II was defeated by the Franks, losing the French possessions and giving way to the so-called Visigothic Kingdom of Toledo, a period of great importance in the arts (characterized by a clear maintenance of Roman models along with Byzantine influences) and culture in general, which ended with the entry of the Muslims in the early seventh century.
