Embroidered panel. Red satin. 18th/19th century. Consisting of four panels of a dragon robe sewn together, with two panels each depicting a rounded dragon between clouds and emblems and above lishui at the top and a running dragon at each side below. Embroidered in bright but faded colors in satin stitch and knotted stitch, the dragons are made using the appliqué technique with paper threads wrapped in gold. Surrounded by a sanlan border. Backed with cotton. Numerous worn areas. Overall dimensions 106 x 161 cm Provenance Private collection, Hesse
