"Le Mal Duc de BELLEISLE" à VERSAILLES le 25 May 1756 - Beautiful letter written under the Secret: "M. LAVALETTE is in agony here, sir, as soon as I knew it I wrote on the spot to M. de MORAS to whom I reminded everything I had told him, not long ago. I enclose here his original reply, which I beg you to throw into the fire, as you must be unaware of what I am telling you. Mr de MORAS has gone to Paris and will not return until Friday. He will not work with the King until Sunday. I shall see him at my leisure before then, as I shall not be leaving Versailles; but I trust that your case will be decided on Sunday, and I pay you my compliments in advance. You see that with patience one also arrives..." He adds in poscriptum: "I recommend the utmost secrecy except for M. le Cardinal to whom you can show my letter before burning it."
