BESENVAL (Pierre Victor de). Autograph letter signed and autograph pieces, one with autograph apostille signed (crossed out), from art dealer Philippe-François Julliot, who specialized in Asian objects. A Swiss officer in the service of France and a wealthy collector, Baron de Besenval, as lieutenant-general, chaired one of the four sub-committees of the Comité de la Guerre founded by the Secretary of State for War and future Marshal Philippe-Henri de Ségur - the latter's wife was also his mistress. Very wealthy, he owned a handsome private mansion in Paris, where he amassed an extensive collection of art objects, notably Japanese and Chinese. - Autograph. S.d. Extract from a catalog of his Japanese and Chinese porcelain: bottles, pagodas, urns, vases, roosters, carps, etc. Baron de Besenval specifies that an urn was given to him by the Comte d'Artois, and that he obtained two pieces of antique porcelain in exchange for another piece given to him by the Duc d'Orléans (2 pp. in-8 square). - Autograph. S.d. List of various objects, mainly pendants. With autograph apostille signed (crossed out) by Philippe-François Julliot: "Je reconnois avoir à Mr le baron de Bezenval les objets cy-dessus détaillés composant un lustre de cristal de roche que Mr le baron m'a confié.
