L.A.S., Paris November 18, 1927, to Commandant Vivielle, librarian of the Service Hydrographique de la Marine; 1 page in-12 (mourning) filled with tight handwriting, address on verso. About Christopher Columbus. He has read "M. Sumien's work on Toscanelli and Columbus (Christopher)" and reached the same conclusions as he did. As for the "map of Christopher Columbus" discovered and published by Charles de La Roncière: "I firmly believe that his map is or could have been one of those used by the squadron of 3 caravels for their transatlantic raid. As for the considerations he gives on the life of Columbus etc... I can't say that I agree or disagree with him, because depending on whether one considers the Illustration article signed by him - the luxurious publication of the map (600f) or the even more luxurious publication of King Fouad - one's opinions change. [...] When you change your mind on a question like that, you have to admit it, otherwise you look as if you're trying to have it both ways, or as if you don't have much lead in your brain. [He recommends André de Hévesy's book on Christopher Columbus.
