State Chancellery 100th anniversary commemorative badge in gilt bronze with red enamel decoration featuring the monograms of Tsars Alexander I and Nicholas II surmounting the imperial eagle and the commemorative dates "1810-1910". With a wheel probably attached. Good condition, slight wear. Russia, privately made, circa 1910. Jilov" hallmark. H. 5.6 x L. 3.7 cm. Provenance Collection of Monsieur G. History The State Chancellery, the office of the Council of State, was created in 1810 as part of the state reform plan of Mr. M. Speransky, who became its first Secretary of State. At the turn of the 20th century, State Chancellery officials became the "bureaucratic guard", some of whom went on to become ministers.
