Jean-Paul CASTAIGNET 1852-1934 "Arcachon Oil on canvas, signed and located lower right Louis XVI style wood and gilded stucco frame. Height: 98 cm. 131 cm long. The lower part of the canvas has been enlarged by one centimeter to match the frame perfectly. This enlargement consists of a wooden strip painted in the same tones as the lower part of the composition. This similarity of tones and brushstrokes suggests that this perfectly executed addition, which is difficult to detect, was made at the same time as the canvas was created, probably by the artist himself. Written in graphite on the canvas frame is the artist's personal address: "Castagnet, 35 rue Mondenard".
