A LACQUER BOX AND COVER DEPICTING WEAPONS A LACQUER BOX AND COVER DEPICTING WEAPONS Japan, Meiji period (1868-1912) to Taisho period (1912-1926), first half of 20th century The rectangular box supported on tiered feet with a reticulated middle section, lacquered in dark brown with a finely crackled surface resembling crocodile skin, the cover worked in takamaki-e with spears and weapons. SIZE 16.7 x 11.5 x 4.8 cm WEIGHT 172.1 g Condition: Very good condition with minor wear, few nicks, and shallow scratches.

A RARE AND LARGE LACQUER BOX AND COVER IN THE FORM OF A BOAT A RARE AND LARGE LACQUER BOX AND COVER IN THE FORM OF A BOAT Japan, early 20 th century, Meiji period (1868-1912) to Taisho period (1912-1926) The unusual lacquer box constructed with eleven separate removable sections, including three main compartments within the boat, stackable trays, a dish, and a cover amongst other elements, all lacquered in fine roiro and decorated in gold hiramaki-e with scrolling vines bearing blossoms, the hull decorated with crashing waves, the stern and other elements covered in fine gold nashiji. LENGTH 52 cm Condition: Very good condition with minor wear and few small surface scratches.

A FINE FIVE-CASE LACQUER INRO WITH NOH THEATER ACCOUTREMENTS A FINE FIVE-CASE LACQUER INRO WITH NOH THEATER ACCOUTREMENTS Japan, late 18 th to early 19 th century, Edo period (1615-1868) Of lenticular profile, the black-lacquer inro worked in gold nashiji, and silver and gold hiramaki-e, depicting on one side a noh kojo mask, an eboshi, a rove, and a rattler, while the opposite depicts a lacquer box and a fan. The interior rims with gold fundame, while the compartments are lacquered in fine nashiji. Condition: Very good condition with minor wear, few surface scratches, and small nicks to the lacquer with associated touchups. HEIGHT 8.5 cm
