Large album of photographs of Egypt and Lebanon, followed by photos of the Alhambra. Circa 1870-1880. 30.5 by 24.5 cm. 52 sheets. Some sixty photos. Most photos have a minimum format of 24 by 17 cm. Some of the photos are signed: Fiorillo (Luigi Fiorillo, 1847-1898), an Italian photographer based in Alexandria. Others by Garzòn (Rafael Garzòn), Bonfils (Félix Bonfils, 1831-1885), Zangaki (the Zangaki brothers), Hippolyte Arnoux, Frères Rubellin (photographers based in Smyrna),... 10 photos of the Alhambra by Garzòn, 2 identified photos by Rubellin (stamps on verso). Views of Cairo, very fine photos of mummies, photos of the port of Beirut, Port-Saïd, very fine photos of the pyramids, animated or posed photos of street characters, etc. Full period black percaline, muted. Minor foxing, a few photos with low contrast, one photo with a slight tear in margin, otherwise very good condition.

[Villa Valmer, Marseille] Two exceptional albums, each containing 23 photographs, or 46 photographs, albumen prints, probably circa 1880-1890. The 46 photographs, however, represent fewer than 30 different photographs, the two albums being particularly close. Most of the photographs measure around 16-17 * 20-22cm. Some of the portraits are smaller, measuring around 19*11cm (and pasted in pairs on the same sheet). There are numerous views of the villa, and of people probably in the garden. On the spine of each volume: A.C. surmounted by a count's crown. Oblong album, half-chagrin with corners, usual minor defects, photographs generally well preserved.
