FAMILY ARCHIVES. VOLONTAIRES NATIONAUX (VN). Important set of family archives relating to Frédéric Lemarchand, a dental surgeon born in Mante in 1903, who died in a bombing raid in 1944. Various diplomas, sports association membership cards, correspondence, notably a dozen letters with his wife during the phoney war of 1939-1940, when he was an artillery warrant officer with the 183rd RALT on the Maginot Line, along with J. Péricard's book "Verdun 1914-1918", Christian Frogé's "Les croix de guerre", librairie de France ed, his photographic portrait and that of his wife, a photo of the Croix de Feu parade in 1935, an album of around 58 photos taken at the front in 1939-1940, with negatives, and around 35 private photos. He is president of the 97th section of the Volontaires Nationaux, an association belonging to the Croix de Feu, lot comprising approx. 17 documents, bulletins, leaflets, 2 photos dedicated by Colonel de la Rocque "To my friend Frédéric Lemarchand president of the 97 VN with all my affection" 29.5 X 24 cm, 2 numbered PSF badges (508 and 2107), a "VN" cross, armband, brooch, miscellaneous documents, passes, minutes of meetings. Attached is a touching handwritten letter from Colonel de la Rocque dated June 5, 1944 to his wife after his death in an allied bombing raid (in preparation for D-Day).
