Vase yenyen à décor figuratif.

A Chinese baluster shaped blue and white porcelain figural vase ('Birthday'-vase). Jingdezhen. Qing dynasty (1644-1911). Kangxi period (1662-1722). The baluster body rising from a spreading foot to a tall trumpet neck, painted around the exterior in rich cobalt-blue tones with court scene at a raised pavilion of kneeling messenger in front of letter-reading figure left and right surrounded by lantern-bearers in full armor and dragon around column with at the steps to the pavilion five court figures by a flowering rock. On the neck pair of seated dignitaries, one on throne, other on chair, surrounded by servants. Large hairline crack. Provenance: Paleis voor Schone Kunsten, Brussels, 13.12.1967, lot 384 Private collection, Heverlee H.: 77 cm Condition: - A large hairline crack of about 33 cm long, running across the lower part of the neck to the upper part of the body. - Restored chips along the upper outer rim.
