Vorlagenwerk. – C. Behrens. Original work. - C. Behrens. Flower and fruit in decorative arrangement. Taken from nature. A collection of studies for modern arts and crafts... based on natural plants and objects. (I. series). Berlin and New York, B. Hessling, (1902). Fol. 4 pp. and 36 plates with numerous tinted illustrations in collotype, loose wrappers. Not in the catalog Vorlagenwerke Kunstbibliothek Berlin. Not in Schneider-Henn, Ornament. - Three masterpieces by C. Behrens, identified as a painter and teacher at the I. Handwerkerschule in Berlin, were published by Hessling before 1900. Martin Gerlach's still lifes composed soon after 1890 in combination with photography and drawing have been incorporated into the design of the present work. The collection of nature photographs has thus been expanded to include added objects - bowls, vases, medallions, figures, masks, various utensils, etc. - for versatile use in the service of the new style. - Title page missing, plates with old, handwritten ownership note. - References: Katalog der Bibliothek der Königl.
