The patterns with stamped model number on the reverse. - Founded in 1839, Paul Gruin was one of the largest wallpaper manufacturers in France. Over the course of the 20th century, the company brought numerous innovative patterns onto the market: washable, antimicrobial and lacquer-like papers. The two albums offer a wonderful overview of the various graphic styles that adorned Parisian interiors in the 1930s. The motifs, predominantly produced using the pochoir technique, show playful or geometric abstractions, imitation marble as well as numerous floral depictions, often in bright colors, sometimes in several color variations with gold or silver accents. Some patterns in glazed relief printing. - Some with minimal foxing and slight signs of use. Occasionally with tears. Overall in very good condition.
