Brevet maçonnique, Paris "22e jour du 4e mois 5797", messidor V [July 10, 1797]; vellum broadsheet, partly printed, headed À la Gloire du Grand Architecte de l'Univers, rich symbolic frame engraved with masonic emblems, large hanging seal (in its metal case) with wax seal, on red, white and black silk ribbons. Handsome patent from future General d'Empire Liger-Belair. Certificate signed by the Grand Master of the Grand Orient de Paris and by the Brothers Deputies, Grand Officers and Experts, in favor of Brother Louis Liger Bel-Air "captain of hussars in the Armée du Nord, with the rank of Master and member of the Saint-Jean Lodge regularly constituted at the Orient de Paris"... [Louis Liger-Belair (1762-1835) was appointed General in 1806, Baron d'Empire, then Count under the Restoration; he died at Château de Vosne-Romanée, which he had acquired in 1815].
