George SAND (1804-1876). L.A.S. "George," [early March 1848], to his friend Charles Duvernet; 2pages in-12, addressed. "My friend, on the very evening of the day we last saw each other, I went to the Ministry. I saw the lists, all the commissions without exception were given. I nonetheless gave a note for you, because no doubt several commissioners will be dismissed when we see them at work, and I pointed you out as a man of good will, capable, reliable, etc. I was thanked for the information. She thanks her friend for "paternally looking after my Augustine [Brault, Sand's great-cousin, who considered her her adopted daughter] and I recommend her to you as the apple of your wife's eye"...
