Eugène DELACROIX (1798-1863). L.A.S. (signed letterhead, 3rd person), April 6, 1861, to Baron Haussmann; 1page in-8. "Mr. Delacroix" unable to attend the invitation of the Prefect and Madame Haussmann. "Too much continuous work in the completion of a very arduous work, has just given him back some of the accidents that have held him back for so long, but from which he hopes that rest and diet will be able to recover." [Delacroix was then finishing his famous Saint-Sulpice paintings, notably Jacob's fight with the Angel].
