Description

Mummiform Oushebti, wearing a striated tripartite wig and a braided false beard. He holds his implements (a hoe and a hoyau) in his hands, here remarkably drawn. The grain sack suspended by its cord falls to his back. Back pillar inscribed with the name of its owner. Inscription: "Let Osiris, Pa-di-pepet, be enlightened to do his work". Earthenware, broken-glued, foot missing, visible discoloration, handwritten label by Jean Roudillon glued under the base. Egypt, Late Period, 21st Dynasty, Reign of Amasis, probably Saqqara H. 12.5 cm Note: according to Glen James, a copy of this Oushebti was in Jean Yoyotte's collection, and others have appeared on the market. Some are in museums such as Cairo (CG.47607), Brooklyn (O8.480.7) and Strasbourg (11.987.0.56 - ex Hoffman 1894). Provenance : Jean Roudillon Collection
