Description

An ovoid vase with a flat base, tapering towards the top. The wide opening is bordered by a flat, slightly protruding lip. The shoulder is adorned with two perforated tubular handles. The surface is polished, unlike the interior of the vase, which is marked with concentric striations. Blood-marbled stone (crystalline limestone). Chipped lip. Egypt, Thinite Period, circa Nagada II-III (3150-2700 B.C.) H. 6 cm Note: these vases disappeared at the beginning of the First Dynasty.
