Description

Richly molded, carved and gilded oak sconce console. Two strongly cambered, scrolled front jambs, ending in ungulate hooves, with tops adorned with faces. The posterior leg is a stylized, fretted baluster. They are joined by scrolled crotch bars, centered by a flower and a shell on the front. The crossbow-shaped belt is carved and openworked with lambrequins, leafy accolades, acanthus friezes and centered on an openwork mavelot topped by a shell. Profiled Flanders marble top. Regency period (restorations). Height : 77 cm - Width : 119 cm - Depth : 58 cm Classified as joinery furniture, the console is a piece of architectural furniture. Its distinctive design takes us back to the Regency period and the abundance of ornamentation of the period. Nicolas PINEAU (1684-1754), a famous ornamentalist, produced designs similar to our model, which were then executed by the great sculptors of the period.
