(4 f.) / A4 / 155 x 215 mm. First edition. Jean Dorat (1508-1588), professor of Latin and Greek literature, was tutor to Jean-Antoine de Baïf and Pierre de Ronsard before becoming their fellow member of the Pléiade. He also later counted Joachim Du Bellay among his pupils. This play was composed by Dorat on the occasion of a Polish embassy that came to Paris in August 1573 to present the Duke of Valois, the future Henry III, with the elective crown of Poland. The verso of the last leaf is occupied by a large woodcut depicting a coat of arms bearing the arms of France and Poland. Binding stained and slightly foxed.
