The seal has a square cross-section with a rounded top, incised at the base with 4 sigillary characters, on one side with a lakescape (black and green) surmounted by a short inscription (red), on another side with a very long inscription (red) and on a third side with a date and signature "25th Minguo year, 8th month, carved by Hu Ti'an" (25th year of the Republic of China, i.e. 1936), the rectangular box with rounded corners, incised on the lid with a lakescape (in black) surmounted by an inscription (in red), inside a compartment separating the seal from a receptacle for the red seal paste.
