LUEN WO. Pair of 800°/°° silver openwork and chased bowls on a short heel decorated with two dragons facing each other chasing the sacred pearl. Marked under the base with Luen Wo Shanghai and a two-character maker's mark. China, early 20th century. Height: 4.5 cm. Diameter: 7.7 cm. Weight: 141.7 g. Operating mainly in Shanghai, Luen Wo was one of the most prestigious silversmiths of the late 19th - early 20th century in China. With the emergence of the foreign concession regime, particularly in Shanghai, the silversmith enjoyed immense success. The high quality of the chasing on Luen Wo's pieces makes them among the finest examples of Chinese silver for export.
