MIWA: A WOOD NETSUKE OF A BOY HIDING A HANYA MASK Signed Miwa三輪 Japan, Edo (Tokyo), 19th century, Edo period (1615-1868) Finely carved, the seated figure portrayed with his right pulling one eye down in a gesture of bekkako, his face forming a mischievous expression, mouth ajar showing his inlaid coral tongue and bone teeth, double inlaid eyes in bone and dark horn, and the left hand hiding a Hannya mask behind his back. The underside with large himotoshi and signed MIWA. HEIGHT 3.8 cm Condition: Very good condition with minor wear.
