A WW2 Distinguished Service Medal group of six to a Royal Navy Petty Officer for DEMS operations consisting of: Distinguished Service Medal (DSM) (GVIR fixed suspender) named to: TA/PO A E Behenna D/JX 204756; 1939-1945 Star, Atlantic Star, Africa Star, Pacific Star and 1939-1945 War Medal. DSM LG 14/06/1945; DSM presented to recipient at Buckingham Palace on 31/07/1945. Despite his Cornish surname, Albert Edgar Behenna was born in Cardiff on 18/10/1905, where his father was a locomotive fireman; he died in Glamorgan on 10/05/1989. A lorry driver by profession, he served in the Royal Navy during WW2 as a gunner on Defensively Equipped Merchant Ships (DEMS) and was awarded the DSM in the 1945 Birthday Honours List. With a WikiTree biographical note, copy photographs and copy extract from London Gazette confirming award of the DSM Very Fine (VF) condition.
