A MASK Probably Ngbaka, Democratic Republic of the Congo H. 23 cm Dark wood with remnants of white kaolin painting. The roundish face shows various stylistic elements of the tribes from the Zaire region. Heavily emphasised eye area with kaolin whitening. The nose and forehead area is engraved with a decorative ornament and set in white. Further decorative scars on the cheek area, bean-shaped eye slits.
