A SIX-FOLD SCREEN BY AN ANONYMOUS PAINTER Japan, Edo period ca. 170 x 387 cm Detailed depiction of the horse race on the Kamo River, from the right the participants ride through the torii of the shrine of Kamo and pass the open hall where courtiers are seated. The last two panels depict the main scene, in which two riders gallop in a race, with the spectators on either side of the racecourse. Ink, colours and gold on paper. From the private collection of the Rhenish portrait painter Fritz Reusing (1874 - 1956), published in Lempertz, Cologne, Sale 806, 8th and 9th of June, 2001, lot 713 - Partly traces of age, small damages due to age and slightly rest.
