Japan, Edo period, 18th-19th century Kakemono in ink and light colors on paper, depicting a young woman in the fashion of the Tang Chinese court, seated on a stool, addressing a young man respectfully bowing before her. With an Ôkyo signature lower right, followed by two stamps (after Maruyama Ôkyo -1733-1795). Mounted in brocaded silk, the border surrounds the tsuba-decorated painting. (Soiling, small folds; accidents to the mounting, visible damp stains on the reverse over the entire height; the end-pieces are missing). Dim. 107 x 52.5 cm
