Note: Jean Dewasne was a militant artist, an abstractionist alongside Poliakoff, De Staël and Arp, from the mid-40s onwards. A tutelary artist of "Constructed Abstraction", Jean Dewasne exhibited at the Galerie Denise Renée in Paris from 1945 to 1956, then at the Galerie Daniel Cordier. In 1951, he revolutionized his art by using industrial paints, glycerophtalic lacquers and body parts. After the Second World War, constructed abstraction, which until then had remained confidential, gradually became an important movement on the art scene, right up until the 1960s. Jean Dewasne's works are now exhibited in such prestigious institutions as the MoMa in New York, the Musée National d'Art Moderne in Paris, the Louisiana Museum in Copenhagen and the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam.
