Michel ANDREENKO (1894-1982) 'Untitled', oil on panel, signed lower right. 21.5 x 27 cm Provenance: Private collection, Clarens: Private collection, Clarens Note: Michel Andreenko was born in Odessa, Ukraine, in 1894. From 1912 to 1917, he studied at the drawing school of the Society for the Encouragement of the Arts in Saint Petersburg with Nicolas Roerich, Arkady Rylov and Ivan Bilibine. From 1914 to 1916, he worked as an illustrator for magazines and designed numerous theater sets, notably for stages in St. Petersburg, Odessa, Prague, Paris and Bucharest. In 1923, Michel Andreenko moved to Paris. He continued his work for the theater, notably for Diaghilev's Ballets Russes company, and the cinema.
