STILL LIFE WITH LEMON AND OYSTER 1927-1929 Oil on canvas, 38x55 cm. Signed lower right. From an expert opinion by Rea Michalova, Ph.D.: "The submitted work Still Life with Lemon and Oyster is a high-quality and rare piece from the early years of the Paris period (1926-1940). This period marked a phase of rapid artistic maturation for him [...] also thanks to the artist`s rich artistic education. From 1925 to 1929, Divis attended lectures by Frantisek Kupka, who already saw him as a mature creator. The young painter further educated himself at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, Academie 4 de la Grande Chaumière, and the academies of Collarosi and Ranson: his teachers were none other than Andre Lhote, Amedee Ozenfant, Fernand Leger, and Othon Friesz." Assessed by Mgr. Vanda Skalova, Ph.D. Rea Michalova, Ph.D. and David Frank, ak. mal. rest. Trinity Art Research
