French West Indies. Set of two marine conchs: horned helmet (cassis cornuta) and Neptune's trumpet (charonia tritonis). The ends of the shells have been cut to create a terminal mouthpiece. These trumpets were used to bring people together, and were also used in tribal wars. Today, they herald the return of fishermen to the sea. L: 23 cm and 17 cm
