MATTEO THUN (Bolzano, Italy, 1952) for Arteluce. Floor lamp "Pao", 1990s. Glass, metal and wood. In good condition. This vintage product may have some scratches and other signs of age. The piece is in good working order. Slight wear and tear from use and age. Patina consistent with use and age. Arteluce edition, with label. European plug (up to 250V). Measurements: 188 x 40 x 37 cm. Floor lamp designed by Matteo Thun for Arteluce, with classic and modern lines, according to the aesthetic criteria promoted by the author, who knew well the traditional furniture. Matteo Thun was an Italian architect and designer trained at the Salzburg Academy with Oskar Kokoschka and later graduated from the University of Florence. In 1978 he moved to Milan, met Ettore Sottsass and in 1981 co-founded Sottsass Associati and the Memphis Group. In 1984 he founded his own studio and worked for Swatch, of which he was artistic director from 1990 to 1993. From 1983 to 2000 he was professor of design and ceramics at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna. He currently runs a major firm called Matteo Thun & Partners, a multicultural architecture and design studio based in Milan with a subsidiary in Munich focusing on hospitality, residential and urban design projects. Throughout his career as an artist he has received numerous awards.
