Description

Pair of Pedrera armchairs, ca. 1950. Metal and wood frame. Fabric upholstery. Measurements: 100 x 85 x 45 cm.; 92 cm. depth. Pair of Pedrera armchairs. It is a singular armchair in its design and rigorous in its execution. It dates from the fifties, when the avant-garde design was inspired by the space age. In this piece, the futuristic aesthetic is insinuated by the play of angular lines that give a special dynamism to the design. The four legs open at a slant and are joined by slender crossbeams. The black tubular metal structure continues in the armrests, which are supported by triangular wooden slats. The wooden stretcher frame joins the seat and backrest (made of slabs) by drawing a broken "L" shape on the sides, with a modern concept of the ear-hook finish.
