ASHANTI, GHANA. Set of 5 traditional combs, one adorned with an Akuaba fertility figure, surmounted by an arch. Wood with old honey-brown patina, good wear marks. H. 22 cm; 16 cm; 19 cm; 13 cm and 14 cm.

Height: 34 cm The lower part of the head disk features a face with supple lines in medium relief, while the reverse is engraved with a double frieze. The body, in the image of traditional productions, is a sober tubular volume, punctuated by breasts and an umbilicus, the short arms inscribed horizontally. - Ashanti Akuaba DOLL, Ghana. Wood with black patina. Height: 37.5 cm The lunar disk forming the head of this Akuaba-type doll is carved in the lower part with a face in medium relief, the reverse engraved with geometric motifs. Arms and breasts are treated as solid volumes.
